FAQs
General
What is TeSik Group and what do you specialise in?
TeSik Group is a Namibia-based company specialising in construction technology and precast services. We manufacture, supply and install innovative precast concrete products via our TeSik Decking brand.
Are your systems approved by banks or regulatory bodies?
Yes. Our precast approach is recognised by major banking institutions in Namibia (FNB, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Bank Windhoek, etc.). We also use an SABS-approved method that has been tried and tested over 30+ years.
How do I get a quote for my project?
You can request a quotation (RFQ) via TeSik’s website under the “Get a Quote / RFQ” section. Include your project drawings, dimensions and specifications to get an accurate estimate.
Are you registered / certified by industry bodies?
Yes. TeSik Decking is registered with: Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), Namibian Manufacturing Association (NMA), Namibian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NCCI).
Precast Staircases
Is the staircase a standard product "off the shelf"?
No, every staircase is custom-made to meet the client’s specifications.
Do I need to shutter the staircase?
The staircase is a permanent precast shuttering system; although we try to minimise shuttering, additional shuttering might be required to ensure structural integrity.
Is steel fixing necessary during installation?
Yes, minimal steel fixing is required.
Does the staircase need to be propped during installation?
Yes, propping is required. TeSik Decking gives assistance on site to set out propping specifications, as they change according to the design.
What strength (Mpa) concrete is required when pouring the concrete?
25Mpa concrete is required unless the Engineer specifies otherwise.
Precast Slabs - Decking
What is the weight of the decking?
The dead load (before the concrete pour) of the decking system is roughly 97 kg/m². The use of polystyrene makes the TeSik Decking lighter than others in the market.
What strength (Mpa) concrete is required when pouring the concrete?
25Mpa concrete is required unless the Engineer specifies otherwise.
How long must the deck be propped for?
The system must be propped for a minimum of 14 days after pouring, so that the concrete can reach the strength for which it was designed.
Can you pack the panels into the ribs before propping?
No. Never do any work on the deck without the appropriate props to support.
Can you walk on the panels?
No, we recommend to never walk on the panels, not even when they are propped. You’ve been warned :)
Do I still need to shutter when using the Cobute system?
The system minimises the shuttering required, therefore a little shuttering will be necessary, e.g. to stop ends, weather steps, etc.
Does the Cobute decking have a fire rating certificate?
Yes it does. A 230 mm thick Cobute slab is fire resistant for 150 minutes.
Do I need to plaster the decking?
It depends on whether you like bare concrete or not.
Why is the system eco-friendly?
Being lighter, the system is less invasive on resources. In fact, the system reduces waste, with minimal timber required during installation and polystyrene cut to fit each project; it uses 50% less concrete than traditional systems.
Reinforced Columns
Do the columns come in standard sizes?
The columns come in two sizes, 230 x 230 mm and 280 x 280 mm. The standard length is 3 metres.
Do I have to use a crane to install the columns?
Our system does not require the use of heavy machinery. 4 workers can carry each 3 m column.
What strength (Mpa) concrete is required when pouring the concrete?
25Mpa concrete is required unless specified by the Engineer.
